*Halliday Wine of The Year 2025!!!*
Region: Yarra Valley
Grapes: Pinot Noir
First Glance: Exotic, Cherry, Five Spice, Dried Leaves
Acclaim: 98pts
The Wine:
Handpicked, fermented in a combination of small oak and stainless steel vats. Pommard clone was fermented as whole bunched, while the remaining clones were all destemmed to whole berries and cold soaked for 4 days before fermentation started naturally. The final blend is around 40% whole bunch. All matured in French oak barriques, of which 20% was new - for 10 months.
"Savoury, twiggy, autumnal - a moody Pinot and the most revered in the lineup for a reason. Dark cherry syrup, Chinese 5 spice, char siu pork and dried leaf notes are in charge of this wine. It is immensely balanced and so so moreish."
- James Malone, Best Cellars
The Review:
Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion - 98pts
"2022 was a hard act to follow, but this superb wine gives it a shake. Exotic, aromatic and pure with its bouquet of wild strawberries, dark cherries, quince, spices and flowers. Densely packed, this saturates the palate, but, as always, it's light on its feet at the same time. Seamless tannins round out another benchmark for what's already a benchmark wine."
